Hello,

I am currently having issue regarding to Azure -VM monitoring, I was using Azure monitoring upon Log Analytics Agent -MMA/OMS, but it is outdated so enrolled AMA agent to all servers and then remove MMA agent from all prod servers as suggested on documentation. So there is no 2 agents installed, there is no duplication but still seeing the warning below:

I also developed policy to automate onboarded/newly joined servers to domain add them as ARC servers & enable monitoring automatically which worked well. Also policy helps to add 'Dependency agent' as an extension to arc machine & linked to newly created DCR. Right now, My monitored servers are not linked to any DCR, they even do not show up on the combo box so I am not able to enable monitoring for them. If I enable with default DCR, monitoring insight does not provide any performance data. Is there anyone have faced with this issue or have any suggestion?

    Hello !

Thank you for posting on MS Learn Q&A.

AMA based VM monitoring with DCRs is supported for both Azure VMs and Arc enabled servers. The warning does not by itself mean AMA+DCR is unsupported. In your case, the issue is more likely that the machine is not correctly associated with a VM Insights DCR, the DCR doesn’t include performance counters or the old VMInsights legacy solution is still present in the workspace.

Don't forget that the dependency agent is only needed for Map and not for guest performance. So try to verify Heartbeat if it shows only Azure Monitor Agent and if the server is listed under the DCR resources blade and the DCR and Log Analytics workspace are in the same region and then remove the old VMInsights legacy solution if you no longer use MMA.
