Several questions about the end of the school year:

  1. At the end of the school year, should I remove the students from my class teams before archiving the team?
  2. Can I student still access a class team after it has been archived by a teacher?
  3. What happens with the students' assignments and quizzes after a class team is archived or if I remove the students from the team at the end of the semester?

    Hi cmojeda,

Thanks for your post on the community forum. I'm Nik, an independent advisor here to assist you with this.

I’ve looked at your questions, and here are my answers in the same order:

    1. If you don’t want students to have read access to their last year class, you could consider removing them from Teams before/after archiving.
    2. Yes, students and Teachers will have only read access to class team contents. Archiving a team removes the team from your “Active Teams” list and freezes team activity. All content associated with the team will still be saved, and you will be able to access it at any time. This includes files, conversations, grades, and assignments that you can re-use later.
    3. When you archive Team, All content associated with the team will still be saved, and you will be able to access it at any time. This includes files, conversations, grades, and assignments that you can re-use later.

If you remove the student from class, they will not have access to Team contents, including assignments and a class notebook.

However, you can add them later to gain access to their resources.

    Hi cmojeda,

When you archive Team, students will see a message on the meeting invite "Either the team has been deleted or you are not a member.", but this doesn't stop them to join a team meeting.

In this scenario, it is advised to cancel all upcoming meeting explicitly.

    Regards

    Nik

    Thanks a lot!

I suppose that once the teachers delete or archive their teams, any scheduled meeting still posted will automatically be cancelled... or do you suggest them cancelling the meetings before deleting or archiving the team??? Inadvertently some teachers scheduled meeting in series until the end of June, and our last school day is tomorrow. We do not want students receiving notifications of meetings during their vacations....
