"This item might not exist or is no longer available"

Hi,

I've run into this issue today when I tired to open files in my Teams group. I've already looked through thread with the same title, but couldn't find the solution. I haven't change any permissions, and I have sent a message to my school/Admin describing the same issue, but haven't heard back yet. I created the Teams group Monday and had no issue accessing it Wednesday, but when I tried to open it on Friday I got the "This item might not exist or is no longer available" message.

Hi Nicolai, Thank you for reaching out. My name is Furkaan, a user just like you. I’d be happy to help you with your concerns. The message "This item might not exist or is no longer available" can be caused by a few things, even though you haven't changed any permissions yourself. Here are a couple of options to try while you wait to hear back from your admin: Clear your browser cache and cookies: Sometimes outdated data stored by your browser can cause problems. Clearing your cache and cookies can help resolve temporary glitches. Try a different browser: If you're using Chrome, try accessing Teams in Firefox or Edge (or vice versa). This can help identify if the issue is specific to your browser. Check if the group was archived: It's unlikely since you just created it on Monday, but it's worth checking. Archived Teams groups have limited accessibility. If you have any additional questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out. Give back to the Community. Hi Furkaan,

Thanks for the help, unfortunately non of the tips help. But I just got an update from my Admin and apparently the "container" for the Teams group was deleted, but they have now restored it and all the files are back.

    Kind Regards, Nicolai

    Hi Nicolai,

That missing picture detail is actually a good clue! While it likely isn't the direct cause of your access issue, it suggests something might be wrong with the way your Teams group was created or how it's stored on the backend.

Here are a few next steps:

Reinstall the Teams app: This might seem drastic, but sometimes a clean install can fix glitches. Use the Teams web app: Try accessing your Teams group through the web app (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-teams/log-in) instead of the desktop app. This can help isolate if the problem lies with the desktop app itself. Since you created the group recently, another option is to:

Recreate the Teams group (if feasible): This might be a last resort, especially if the group contains important information. However, if it's a new group and you haven't added much content, recreating it might be the quickest solution. Important: Before recreating the group, make sure you understand the implications. If there are existing conversations or files you need to preserve, recreating might not be the best option.

While you wait to hear back from your admin, keep these additional points in mind:

Check for updates: Ensure you're running the latest version of the Teams app. Updates often include bug fixes that might resolve your issue. Search within Teams: Even if you can't directly access the group, you might be able to search for specific files or conversations within Teams using the search bar.

    Hi Furkaan,

Thanks for the replay, I tried everything you suggested but unfortunately nothing worked. One thing I saw when trouble shooting was in the overview with all of my Teams groups the problematic Team group was missing a picture, even the default that it normally assigns to the group. I don't know if that information is useful at all.

    Kind Regards, Nicolai
