Dear Terrance Abbott,
Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.
As of now, there isn't a dedicated feature in Microsoft Teams to preview background images outside of a meeting context. However, you can still test them out before joining a call:
- If you navigate to the Calendar and click 'Meet now' in the top right corner, then select 'Start meeting,' you'll see the same preview as if you were joining a meeting with someone else.
- Join a Meeting (Pre-Join Screen); Join a meeting (even a test meeting you schedule with yourself). In the pre-join screen, you'll find the "Background effects" button. Click it and choose from the available backgrounds or upload your own. Use the "Preview" button to see how the background looks with your current camera feed.
- During a Meeting, once in a meeting, click the "More actions" button (three dots) and select "Background effects." You can then choose from the available backgrounds, upload your own, and preview them before applying.
While these methods require joining a meeting, they provide a practical way to test background images without fully participating in a call.
Note:
- The quality of the background preview may depend on your camera's resolution and your device's processing power.
- If you're experiencing issues with background previews, ensure you have the latest version of Microsoft Teams and that your device meets the minimum system requirements.
