Removing existing teams or channels from Microsoft Teams when no longer needed
Hi Michael, Welcome to the Microsoft Community. I am a Microsoft user just like you, and I hope you are well.
Please note: This is a user-to-user community forum. We are users just like you who help others. We are not employees of Microsoft.
If you've moved your organization to a new tenant and are experiencing issues with a guest organization still being visible in Microsoft Teams, even after removing it from the old tenant, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:
- Double-check that you have removed the guest organization from your old tenant correctly. This should include removing the guest users and guest access permissions.
- Refresh or Clear Cached Data: Sometimes, the visibility of guest organizations can be due to cached data. Try to refresh or clear the cache in your Microsoft Teams app. Here's how you can do it:
Sign out of Microsoft Teams. Clear cached data by deleting the contents of the following folders: %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\Cache %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\databases Restart your computer. Sign in to Microsoft Teams again and check if the guest organization is still visible.
- Ensure that your account in the new tenant has the necessary permissions to manage organizations in Microsoft Teams. It's possible that the account you're using may not have the appropriate permissions to remove or manage organizations.
- Log Out and Log Back In: Sometimes, simply logging out of your Microsoft Teams account and then logging back in can help refresh the data and remove any lingering references to the guest organization.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Best Regards, Umar Majeed
