Outside emails to a Teams Channel is not working

We have guests from outside our organization that will send an email in with the Teams email address included to help with tracking documents. However, when someone sends in a document pdf etc it will not allow you to open it up within Teams. You can click on the "open in browser" and it will go nowhere. If you click download it will download but will not open anywhere the only way to retrieve the document is if you "copy link" and open it in a fresh browser. When trying to get the item open it will kick me out of Outlook and then lock me out entirely of our system. Any advice?

    Hi again,

I'm sorry I wasn't able to help, unfortunately, I do not have any more troubleshooting to offer, there are knowledgeable experts on the platform and I hope someone else will take a look at your issue.

    Thanks, Sola

Teams is updated to the "New Teams"

The web browse goes to MS Teams Classic and it will not allow me to open them in the web version of Teams as well.

    Thanks

    Hi Tammy,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the inconveniences,

    • Make sure that your Teams channel settings allow anyone to send emails to the channel. You can do this by clicking on the three dots icon next to the channel name and selecting Get email address. Then, click on Advanced settings and make sure that the option for Anyone can send emails to this address is checked.
    • Make sure that your Teams app is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, outdated software can cause compatibility issues or bugs that affect the email attachment functionality. You can check for updates in Teams by clicking on your profile picture in the upper right corner and selecting Check for updates.
    • Try using the Teams web app instead of the desktop app and see if you can open the email attachments in a browser. You can access the web app by going to https://teams.microsoft.com/ and signing in with your account.
    • Try downloading the email attachments to your computer and opening them with a compatible program. You can do this by clicking on the three dots icon next to the email message in Teams and selecting Download original email. Then, open the downloaded file with Outlook and open the attachments from there.

    I hope this helps!

    Regards, Sola
