Earlier I was using microsoft 365 ID created by my school. Now, I am using different id created by my college. I am able to open Teams under this new ID, but Teams is not opening in Desktop (Windows 10). During opening it is still showing my school name as host. Please guide what to do?

Can you go to your Windows Settings > Accounts > Access Work or School (note, it is the briefcase icon, not the envelope icon). Then see if the old organization email address is still listed? If so, click on it and then disconnect it. ==================

Next, type control panel in the search on the taskbar to launch it, then go to Credential Manager > Windows credential tab, look for anything referencing the old organization account, right click and delete all that is found. ===============

Hold down Windows + R keys, copy and paste the following path into the run box (one at a time please), and press enter to launch the folder.

When it is launched, delete everything in the folder.

If you run into any sub folder that will not allow you to delete, go into that sub folder, and delete from within.

    %LocalAppData%\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe

    %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy

    %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\OneAuth

    %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\TokenBroker

    %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\IdentityCache

    %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy

    %userprofile%\appdata\local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams

    =========================

Restart the computer after that. Then check to see if the old organization account is now gone.

    Dear @ANUSMIT DE SARKAR,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum. We are happy to assist.

To better support you, could you please provide a few more details?

    • Have you fully signed out of your previous school account on the Teams desktop app?
    • What exactly happens when you try to open Teams on the desktop? Does it show an error, stay stuck on a loading screen, or open with the wrong account?
    • Does the desktop app show your college email address anywhere, or only the school name?
    • Is Teams working correctly when accessed via a web browser (teams.microsoft.com) using your college ID?
    • Are you using the same device where the school account was previously used?

    In the meantime

Try these steps to see if the issue persists:

    1. Sign out of the desktop application.
    2. Close the app completely to ensure no background processes are running.
    3. Reopen the app and sign back in using your college ID credentials.
    4. Once signed in, verify whether the issue has been resolved.

Clear the cache of Microsoft Teams:

    1. If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon on the taskbar, and then select Quit.
    2. Open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows key +R.
    3. In the Run dialog box, enter the following path, and then select OK.
         %userprofile%\appdata\local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams

    4. Delete all files and folders in the directory.
    5. Restart Teams.
