Setting Up a Teams Channel Meeting with Co-Organizers

How can a Teams channel meeting be set up to include co-organizers who are already part of the channel? The department is transitioning to using Teams channels for managing recurring meetings and tests are being conducted with Loop agendas and notes.

The current challenge involves needing to add the team admin, department chair, and possibly another person as co-organizers for the recurring meeting. It is necessary for these individuals to receive individual invitations, in addition to the notifications they get from being part of the channel team, correct?

This approach seems to result in duplicate events appearing on their calendars. Are both meetings considered the same? This situation can lead to confusion and distraction. Is there a workaround for this issue?

If a workaround is not available, is it possible for a co-organizer to delete one instance of the recurring meeting while still retaining access to the overall meeting?

    Hello there,

In Teams, channel meetings do not automatically grant co‑organizer status to channel owners or members; co‑organizers must be explicitly added to the meeting invite by name. When a channel member is also added individually, Teams creates two calendar entries (one from the channel and one personal), even though they both point to the same meeting series with the same chat, join link, Loop agenda, and recordings. This duplicate appearance is expected behavior and cannot currently be merged or eliminated. There is no supported workaround other than avoiding adding channel members unless co‑organizer rights are truly required; if they are added, the extra calendar entry can be hidden but not deleted without losing access to the meeting.

    Thank you
