Hi @Wes Mauney,
Thanks for your response.
While channel moderation in Microsoft Teams primarily controls who can post messages, it also has a lesser-known benefit: it hides the “Meet Now” and “Schedule a Meeting” buttons from the channel interface.
To enable this:
- Open Microsoft Teams and navigate to the team where the channel is located.
- Click the three dots (⋯) next to the channel name.
- Select Manage channel.
- Under Channel moderation, set it to “Only owners can post messages.”
This setting helps maintain a more focused and controlled environment, especially useful for announcement channels.
When this setting is enabled, non-moderators will see a simplified view of the channel interface, like this:
Meanwhile, moderators will still have access to the “Meet Now” and “Schedule a Meeting” buttons.
Please note that this workaround works best on the Web and Desktop versions of Microsoft Teams. Functionality may be inconsistent on mobile devices, particularly on iOS, where the moderation effects might not fully apply. Furthermore, this applies only to channel meetings. Other users will still be able to use the "Meet now" and "Schedule a meeting" options for private meetings.
On the other hand, since this is only a workaround, it may not fully align with your original requirements. I’d recommend submitting feedback directly to the Microsoft Teams team.
You can submit feedback by clicking the 3 dots next to your icon > Feedback > Suggest a feature in the Teams app.
This helps the development team recognize the value of this feature and consider it for future improvements.
I hope the information provided proves useful. Please proceed with the proposed steps and let me know whether they help you out to some extent.
