It depends on what is causing your screen to freeze.

Try pressing the Windows Key + Ctrl + Shift + B to restart your graphics driver, if this is a graphics problem, that should unfreeze the screen.

If that does not resolve the problem, if you previously saved your work to a file, press Ctrl + S to save your work, even though the screen is frozen, that may save your work in the background.

Then press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, does Task Manager open?

If so, select the Processes tab.

Do you see a process in there, that is not the app you are working in that is using huge resources that may be freezing the screen, if so, right click it and select End Task.

Finally, if nothing works, you may need to force your PC to shut down, what app were you working in, it may save the data to a temporary file.

If your screen has frozen while working on an Office document, you can try the following steps to unfreeze it without losing your changes:

    1. Wait a Moment: Sometimes, the application may become responsive again after a short period.
    2. Use Keyboard Shortcuts: Try pressing Ctrl + S to save your document. If the application is still responsive enough, this may allow you to save your changes before proceeding further.
    3. Force Close the Application: If the application remains unresponsive, you may need to force close it. To do this:
      • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
      • Look for the Office application in the list, select it, and click on "End Task".
      • When you reopen the application, it may prompt you to recover the last saved version of your document.
    4. Check for AutoRecovery: If you have AutoRecovery enabled in your Office application, it may have saved a backup of your document. When you reopen the application, check for any recovered files.
    5. Restart Your Computer: If the above steps do not work, you may have to restart your computer. Make sure to save any other work before doing this.
    6. Prevent Future Freezes: To avoid future issues, ensure that your Office applications are updated and check for any problematic add-ins that might be causing the freezes.

These steps should help you handle a frozen screen without losing your work.
