My step daughter used my work laptop to do some college course work and signed into TEAMS. I now can't seem to get TEAMS to forget her college username and it keeps asking me to sign in.

I can still sign into my account, it's just a nuisance really.

I have removed her MS account via credentials and other places google pointed me to, but I just cant seem to get TEAMS to forget about her.

    Hi @Toby RANCE,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for contacting us. I’d like to provide you with the following information.

I understand that you previously cleared the credentials; however, the issue has not yet been resolved.

At this point, please follow all of the steps listed below completely to fully remove all sign-in information from your device (including both your account and your daughter’s account). After that, please sign in again only with your Business account to prevent the issue from recurring.

I understand that you may feel hesitant about being asked to repeat steps you have already tried. However, I will be including some additional necessary steps this time, so I kindly ask that you follow them in the correct order before signing in again with your account.

First: Sign out of all Teams accounts

Step 1: Click on your profile picture (avatar).

Step 2: Select Sign out for each existing account.

    2. Paste the following path and press Enter: %LocalAppData%\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams User's image

    Step 3: Delete the cache

    • Select all files and folders inside
    • Press Delete

Next: Check accounts in Access work or school

Go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.

Please check whether you see a school account listed under Access work or school.

    • If yes, select that account and click Disconnect. User's image
      • Then click Connect and sign in again using your Business account to re‑register the device.

    Clear cached credentials

    • Open Control Panel
    • Select User Accounts → Credential Manager

In both Windows Credentials and Generic Credentials:

To remove an account from Microsoft Teams, you can follow these steps:

    1. Sign out of Teams: Open the Teams app, click on your profile picture at the top right corner, and select Sign out. If there are multiple accounts, make sure to sign out of each one individually.
    2. Clear Credentials: Since you have already removed the Microsoft account via credentials, ensure that you have also cleared any cached credentials related to Teams. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Credential Manager and removing any entries associated with Teams or the Microsoft account.
    3. Remove from Microsoft 365: When you sign out from Teams in a browser, it signs you out from all Microsoft 365 applications in that browser profile. If you are using Teams in a web browser, make sure to sign out from there as well.
    4. Use InPrivate/Incognito Mode: If this is a shared computer, consider using InPrivate or Incognito mode in your browser to prevent any usernames from being visible to others.
    5. Check for App Data: If the issue persists, you may need to clear the app data for Teams. This can be done by navigating to the Teams cache folder and deleting its contents. The cache folder is typically located at %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams on Windows.

After performing these steps, restart the Teams app and check if it still prompts for your stepdaughter's account.
