Issue: Planner no longer available to link in Microsoft Loop

My team uses Microsoft To Do, Planner, and Loop for project management. I would like to report that the add-in Planner in Loop is no longer available.

I am logged into my business account, and all affected plans are basic plans and premium plans.

Could you please confirm whether this is a known issue or a recent change?

Thank you.

    Dear @Domenico,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand that you're looking for the Planner component in Loop. Based on my research, Microsoft has officially retired the "Planner component" in Microsoft Loop as of early 2026. Microsoft has stated that this retirement is part of a transition period. They have a long-term goal of introducing a more advanced, unified Planner component across the Microsoft 365 suite, including Loop; however, a specific release date for this "next-generation" component has not yet been announced.

This change is a design decision by the engineering team to streamline the new unified Planner architecture.

    Workaround:

    • For new task management in Loop, you can use the Task List component instead (/task list or via the Insert menu). Tasks created here automatically sync to a connected Planner plan, appear in Microsoft To Do for assigned users, and support basic collaboration without requiring the previous full Planner embed.

    • If your workflows rely heavily on complex Planner boards, you can continue managing them directly in Planner (or as tabs in Teams) and reference them via links in your Loop pages.

You can check for the latest updates in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap (search for "Planner" or "Loop") or via the Microsoft 365 Admin Center (Message Center ID: MC1193421).

If this significantly impacts your team's processes, I strongly recommend that you share your detailed experience and feedback directly with the Microsoft product team through their official feedback channels. This is the most effective way to make your voice heard and influence future feature improvements and adjustments.

You can visit the Ideas · Community to submit a new idea or vote on existing one. Our product team is in charge of the site, and they constantly check customer reviews and feedback. The higher votes, the more attention the related team will pay, and a lot of the features are developed and improved based on customer feedback. As a moderator, I will also pass along your feedback to the appropriate team for further consideration. While I don't directly influence product design, user feedback is actively reviewed and helps prioritize future development. If you’re unable to submit feedback yourself, please feel free to reach out to me, and I’ll be happy to submit it on your behalf.

I appreciate your understanding as we navigate these evolving product changes. Please feel free to reach out if you need any further assistance. Have a wonderful day.
