Surface Pro 11 battery not detected after sleep (Code 45 and Surface Integration Error 10)

Good morning. I’m hoping someone can help because my new Surface Pro 11 has been having persistent issues that I can’t resolve.

Every couple of days, when I wake the device from sleep, it takes a long time to respond. When it finally wakes, the battery icon is missing. In Device Manager the battery shows a Code 45 and reports that it is not connected to the device. If I restart the Surface, the battery reappears and everything works normally again.

I have already tried the following steps:

• Ran the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit. It flagged the drivers section and reported a Surface Integration error code 10.

• Checked Windows Update. There are no pending updates.

• Tried updating drivers through Device Manager. It reports that everything is up to date.

• Performed the usual resets and troubleshooting steps recommended online.

The issue keeps returning, and it is happening often enough that it is affecting my workflow. I purchased the device from the Microsoft Store online late last year, and it has had ongoing problems since then.

Has anyone else experienced this with the Surface Pro 11, or found a reliable fix for the Code 45 and Surface Integration error 10? I would appreciate any guidance on this.

Thanks,
Laurie

    Shut down the Surface completely.

Hold the Power button for 20 seconds continuously.

    Release.

    Wait 10 seconds.

    Turn it back on.

Go to Microsoft’s official Surface Drivers page.

Download the Surface Pro 11 Driver and Firmware package (.msi).

    Install it manually.

    Restart.

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your Surface Pro 11. The Code 45 error typically indicates that the device is not recognizing the battery, which can happen after waking from sleep. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue further:

    1. Battery Authentication: Ensure that the battery is properly authenticated. You can do this by running the Battery Repair (Validation) tool from the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (SDT). Make sure your device is connected to the internet and that you have the latest version of the Surface Management Extension installed.
    2. Check for Updates: Although you've mentioned that there are no pending updates, it's worth double-checking that both Windows and the Surface firmware are fully updated. Sometimes, specific updates can resolve hardware compatibility issues.
    3. Power Cycle the Device: If the issue persists, try performing a full shutdown instead of just restarting. Hold down the power button for about 10 seconds until the device turns off completely, then turn it back on.
    4. Run Diagnostics: Since you've already run the SDT, ensure that you run all diagnostics available to check for any other underlying issues that may not be immediately apparent.
    5. Contact Microsoft Support: If the problem continues after trying these steps, it may be beneficial to reach out to Microsoft Support for further assistance, especially since the device is still under warranty.

These steps should help you address the battery detection issue you're experiencing.
