If your Surface Pro is not holding a charge but the battery light shows, it could indicate a few potential issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot:

    1. Battery Charging: Ensure that the device is connected to a power supply and allow the battery to charge until the battery icon in Windows shows at least 50% remaining charge.
    2. Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (SDT): Since you mentioned that the toolkit might be missing the right driver, you should connect a USB with the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit loaded and run it to check for any issues. You can launch the SDT from the Windows Desktop by navigating to the USB drive and selecting the executable file.
    3. Battery Authentication: After running the SDT, use the Battery Repair (Validation) tool to authenticate the battery. This process requires a stable internet connection and the latest version of the Surface Management Extension. If the battery validation tool fails, you may need to install the Surface Management Extension, reboot the device, and try again.
    4. Power Cycle: If you haven't already, try powering down the device using the OS start menu and then restarting it after a few minutes.
    5. Contact Support: If the issue persists after these steps, it may be best to reach out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.

These steps should help you diagnose and potentially resolve the issue with your Surface Pro not holding a charge.
