Since you continue to experience the issue even after trying the steps above, what I can highly suggest is to post the issue on the feedback hub so that developers will also be aware of this problem. Hopefully, the fix will apply as soon as possible.

Hi, I'm Bernard, a fellow Windows user. I'm happy to help!

May I know the steps you have taken so far? While waiting, this issue occurs when there is a miscalibration with Microsoft Edge, and for us to sort out the issue, kindly follow the steps below:

    Method 1. Repair Microsoft Edge

Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & Features

Scroll down and click Microsoft Edge > Click Modify

Then follow the prompt to repair.

Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

Method 2. Do a clean boot:

A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.
    • On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.
    • Under Startup in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then select Disable.
    • Close Task Manager.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it's in a clean boot environment.

Note: If the issue persists, a system repair on the affected device might be necessary.

If your desktop icons are flashing white after closing Microsoft Edge, it may be related to graphics issues that have arisen from recent updates. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Restart Your Device: Sometimes, a simple restart can clear temporary glitches that may cause display issues.
    2. Check Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can lead to display problems.
    3. Disable Hardware Acceleration: In Microsoft Edge, you can try disabling hardware acceleration. Go to Settings > System and performance, and toggle off "Use hardware acceleration when available."
    4. Adjust Visual Effects: You can also try adjusting the visual effects settings in Windows to see if that alleviates the issue.
    5. Run Windows Troubleshooter: Use the built-in Windows troubleshooter for display issues to detect and fix problems automatically.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consider rolling back the recent update or seeking further assistance from Microsoft support.
