    Found this - finally

Steps to Stop Edge from Opening PDFs on Mac:

    • Change Edge Settings (Recommended):
    • Open Microsoft Edge.
    • Click the three-dot menu (...) in the top-right corner and select Settings.
    • Click on Cookies and site permissions in the left sidebar.
    • Scroll down and select PDF documents.
    • Toggle Always open PDF files externally to ON(blue).
      • Note: You may need to restart Edge for the changes to take effect.

    Hi Shellie!

To set Adobe Acrobat as default, right click any PDF in Finder, select Get Info, under Open with choose Adobe Acrobat, then click Change All and confirm, this sets Adobe Acrobat as the default app for all PDF files in macOS.
