My phone number

I haven't been able to add my phone number to Microsoft. I had it before, but I helped my sister with something on Microsoft by temporarily using my number. I told her to remove it and tried to add my own number. Everything was fine until I entered the SMS code, and it said the alias was incorrect and to enter another one. I don't know what it means by "alias," but because of this, I can't redeem my rewards on Microsoft Rewards. Besides, when I log in, the phone number option appears and works! But don't add it if it's the "add phone number" option because it doesn't work.

    Can you have your sister go to her account https://account.live.com > Your info > Sign in preference, make sure it was removed there. Then have her go to Security > Manage how I sign in, and have her remove there as well.

    Then see if you can add it back to your account. If you recently change your account username Your info > Sign in preference within the last 7 days, you will have to wait til another 7 days has passed to change again.
