Thanks for the input from everyone however problem continues. Did or tried all of the suggestions above and problem still occurs.
Setup a separate physical 2019 server and made it a DC. Worked until it was restarted (after DC promotion) and same issue occurred - no logon screen.
- So, doesn't seem to care about the OS version - did this on a 2016 server, 2019 server and 2025 server.
- Only real change in the network was the Active Directory promotion from 2008 R2, which was then promoted to a 2012 R2 and then ultimately to a 2016 version.
The 2019 server is a non-user one so I have been able to mess around with it - I can get it to boot up in Safe mode (after crashing the boot 2x) however unable to logon with Domain administrator account in Safe Mode w/networking. I created another Dom Admin account and was able to logon with that account - only in Safe mode however.
My only conclusion, before I call Microsoft for support, is possibly the KRBTGT password, which hasn't been reset since 2015 or some kind of issue with group policy. Any more ideas as I get ready to call Microsoft support?
Thanks again for the suggestions.
