I am trying to delete and/or edit contacts in teams. In some cases email addresses have not be imported and in other cases an old email needs to be amended. I call up People and there is no way to edit the contact. In some cases the three dots beside the name are covered by an invite button that cannot be removed. There are no relevant notices at the top left or right of the screen to allow for editing.

The people app in Teams is strictly for viewing only. This feature is still extremely new and product team is still gathering feedback, especially if you are a Teams product insider member. Feedback can be submited here: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback
As for edits, if the contacts are synced from your outlook.com account or your phone, you can edit it via outlook.com > people, or your phone instead.
