How to add music to my powerpoint

There might be a bit of a misunderstanding here. The music you download from Apple Music isn’t a regular local audio file—instead, it’s encrypted, which is why you can’t directly insert it into PowerPoint.

There are basically two ways to work around this. One is to convert your tracks into local audio files and then add them to PowerPoint. However, keep in mind this may involve copyright issues, so it’s generally only recommended for personal use.

The other option is to search for the song on YouTube and use its embed code to add the music into your slides. You can follow this guide for the detailed steps. I actually used this method to add my YouTube music. Your platform might be different, but if you just want to insert a single song, you can try this approach.

PowerPoint can only insert audio files that exist as regular files on the computer (for example .mp3, .wav, .m4a). Apple Music tracks are usually stored in a protected streaming format and do not appear as normal audio files in the Music folder, so they cannot be added directly.

To add music that PowerPoint can use:

1. Ensure the audio is saved as a standard audio file on the PC (for example an .mp3 file in the Music or Downloads folder). This usually means obtaining the track from a source that provides a downloadable audio file, not a streaming-only service.
2. In PowerPoint, open the slide where the music should start.
3. On the Insert tab, select Media > Audio > Audio on My PC.
4. Browse to the folder where the audio file is stored, select it, and choose Insert.
5. Select the audio icon on the slide, go to the Playback tab, and choose options such as Play in Background or Play Across Slides if the music should continue while presenting.

If the song does not appear in the file picker, it is not available as a standard audio file. In that case, it must be obtained in a compatible, unprotected audio format and saved to a known folder before it can be inserted.
