A family of Microsoft presentation graphics products that offer tools for creating presentations and adding graphic effects like multimedia objects and special effects with text.
Try using the Selection Pane to find hidden media objects. On the Home tab, click the Select button in the Editing group and choose Selection Pane. This opens a list of every single element on your slide. Look for any item named Video, Media, or Audio, especially those with a hidden icon next to them or those located at the very bottom of the list. Select these items directly from the pane and press the Delete key. This is needed because PowerPoint often embeds webcam recordings as separate video layers that are not always removed by the standard clear recording commands.
After cleaning the Selection Pane, you should address the hidden triggers in the Animation Pane. Go to the Animations tab and click Animation Pane to see the list of playback events. If you see any media icons or entries with a play symbol, select them all and press Delete. These animations are frequently what cause an old recording to start playing automatically even after the file itself seems to be gone. You should also go to the Transitions tab and look at the Timing group on the far right. Ensure the checkbox for After is unchecked and then click Apply to All. This prevents any old timing data from forcing the slides to advance based on the previous recording's duration.
To ensure all background metadata is flushed out, go to the Slide Show tab, click the downward arrow next to Record, select Clear, and then click both Clear Narrations on All Slides and Clear Timings on All Slides. This global reset is more thorough than clearing an individual slide. If the old video still persists after these steps, it is likely a corrupted media reference within the file structure. You can force a deep clean by closing the file, renaming the extension from .pptx to .zip, opening the resulting folder, and navigating into ppt/media. If you see any .mp4 or .m4a files that you did not manually insert, delete them from that folder, close the zip, and rename it back to .pptx.
