I have been working to record a message for over two hours and have not been able to. I was dropped from a chat and the report said the issue was resolved. It was not. I need to record a message for my work and test playback before I send it.

    Hi @David Hooven,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, I understand that you are trying to record a voice message in a Teams chat.

First, please check whether you have granted microphone permission to the Microsoft Teams application.

To help me assist you more accurately, please provide the following information:

    1. What device are you using? (computer, phone, tablet, etc.)
    2. Which version of Microsoft Teams are you using? (desktop app or Teams on the web)
    3. Do you see any error messages when attempting to record the audio?

If you only need to send a voice message, you can use Microsoft Teams on your mobile device. Please follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the chat where you want to send the message in the Teams mobile app

Step 2: Tap the microphone icon at the bottom right

Step 3: Start recording. After finishing, the audio message will appear so you can listen to it again or delete it if needed.

At the same time, please make sure that your device has fully granted the necessary permissions to Microsoft Teams.

Based on the information you provide, I will be able to support you more accurately and effectively.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

I look forward to continuing the conversation.

To record and play back a short message in Microsoft Teams chat on desktop, use the built‑in video/audio clip feature:

    1. Open Teams and go to the one-on-one chat, group chat, or channel where the message needs to be sent.
    2. Under the box where messages are typed, select Actions and apps.
    3. Select Record a video clip.
    4. In the recording window, select Start recording.
      • Recording can be paused and resumed as many times as needed.
    5. When finished, select Continue in the lower-right corner.
    6. (Optional) To edit the clip before sending:
      • Select Trim and move the sliders to keep only the part needed.
      • Select Confirm trim to save the changes.
    7. To re-record instead of using the current clip, select the left arrow in the lower-left corner and choose to delete or record more clips.
    8. Once processing completes, the clip appears in the message box. Use the built-in player there to play back and test the recording.
    9. When satisfied with the playback, select Send to post it to the conversation.

This method lets the message be fully recorded and reviewed before it is sent to colleagues.
