I'm not able to find information to confirm if the Azure VMSS IaaSDiagnostics extension, which is used for the Application Insights Profiler, is being deprecated. Is it the same extension as the Azure Diagnostic extension which was deprecated on March 31, 2026? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/agents/diagnostics-extension-overview

Thanks,

Anh Le - Based on the current Microsoft documentation, the Azure Diagnostics extension (publisher:Microsoft.Azure.Diagnostics) is officially deprecated effective March 31, 2026.

This deprecation applies to the Windows (WAD) and Linux (LAD) Azure Diagnostics extensions that collect guest OS data and integrate with Azure Monitor, Storage, Event Hubs, and Application Insights.-https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/agents/diagnostics-extension-overview

At this time, there is no Microsoft documentation confirming that the VMSS IaaSDiagnostics extension used by Application Insights Profiler is deprecated or that it is the same extension as the Azure Diagnostics (WAD/LAD) extension.

Microsoft documentation treats Azure Diagnostics extension and Application Insights Profiler / IaaSDiagnostics as separate components, and only the former is explicitly listed under the March 31, 2026 deprecation notice
