Unable to update edge through sccm if update registry key is set to 0 in clients

when we set update registry as 2 then it’s getting updated

it was working till last month with registry key 0 and suddenly it’s not working . We have searched in google for any update from microsoft on this change but nothing found . Why it’s broken suddenly ?

Hi Raghunayakula Dilip Kumar, Thanks for posting here in Microsoft Community. Nice to meet you and I hope you are having a great day.

Please be informed of the following:

    • If UpdateDefault = 0 (updates disabled), Edge updates delivered via SCCM/WSUS are now intentionally blocked.
    • Setting the value to 2 (or higher) allows updates again. Your environment was relying on an unsupported side effect that no longer works.

Please refer to the screenshot below:

What you should do now is to use either of the following while managing updates via SCCM: UpdateDefault = 2  (Manual updates only) or UpdateDefault = 1  (Always allow updates)

SCCM will still fully control when updates deploy. Microsoft explicitly documents this model for Edge + SCCM coexistence. Hope this helps.
