Follow these steps in order to fix Excel not opening or working, especially since the built‑in “Repair now” did not help:

1. Run a full Online Repair of Office Quick/standard repair often does not fix deeper problems. Run a full Online Repair, which reinstalls Office components.
   • Close Excel and all other Office apps.
   • Open Settings in Windows.
   • Go to Apps > Apps & features (or Installed apps).
   • Find Microsoft 365 or Office in the list.
   • Select it, then choose Modify.
   • Select Online Repair, then confirm and let it complete.
   • Restart the computer when it finishes.
   • Try opening Excel again.
2. If Excel opens but shows a blank screen or freezes
   • If Excel opens to a blank window or buttons are greyed out when double‑clicking a file, perform the Online Repair as above. This is the recommended fix when Excel opens to a blank screen.
   • If Excel hangs or is not responding, also use Repair a Microsoft 365 application as described above. This can resolve freezing and not‑responding issues.
3. If Excel still will not work after Online Repair
   • Perform a selective startup (clean boot) of Windows to check if another program is conflicting with Excel:
