I wish you would go back to the older version of posting questions. This new design is useless.

The old forum was migrated to this Learn forum for Q&A.

This is the place to ask a question now. I'm afraid it is here to stay.

Of course this comment comes from a bot and doesn't understand what I was writing.

Clipchamp stores temporary copies of your media and projects on the C: drive. These can grow to several GB but can be cleared safely if done correctly.

    Before deleting anything

    • For personal Clipchamp accounts: Ensure copies of all source media (videos, images, audio) are saved somewhere outside Clipchamp or that the content backup feature is enabled. After clearing temp files, Clipchamp may ask to locate and re-add media; without copies, those projects cannot be edited.
    • For work/school Clipchamp accounts: Media is stored in OneDrive/SharePoint; temp files will be re-downloaded when projects are opened again.

There are three main ways to free space.

    1. Clear Clipchamp temp files in the Windows desktop app

Option 1 – Reset the Clipchamp app (simplest)

    1. Close Clipchamp.
    2. Open the Windows Start menu.
    3. Go to Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
    4. Find “Clipchamp” in the list.
    5. Select the three dots (…) next to Clipchamp → Advanced options.
    6. On the next screen, select Reset.

This deletes Clipchamp’s data cache, including temp files, and frees that disk space.

Option 2 – Manually delete the temp folder

    1. Close Clipchamp.
    2. Open File Explorer.
    3. In the address bar, navigate to: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Packages\Clipchamp.Clipchamp_yxz26nhyzhsrt\LocalState\EBWebView\ (Replace yourusername with the actual Windows user name.)
    4. Delete all subfolders inside EBWebView.
    5. Empty the Recycle Bin.

This removes the temp folders and frees the space they used.

    1. Clear Clipchamp temp files when using a browser (Edge/Chrome)
    1. Open a Clipchamp editing project in a browser tab.
    2. Open the browser developer tools (for Edge/Chrome, see developer tools).
    3. In DevTools, open the Application tab.
    4. On the left, select Storage.
    5. On the bottom-right, select only IndexedDB and Cache Storage (deselect all other options).
    6. Click Clear site data.

This clears the Clipchamp temp data stored by the browser and frees disk space.

    1. Manage and delete Clipchamp local storage from its settings (personal accounts)

For Clipchamp personal accounts, there is a storage management page:

    1. Sign in to Clipchamp (desktop app or browser).
    2. Go to https://app.clipchamp.com/account/storage or from the Clipchamp home page select Settings (bottom left) → Storage.
    3. On the Local storage page you can:
      • See how much disk space Clipchamp is using.
      • Set a storage limit.
      • Check if content backup is enabled.
      • Delete temp files.

Again, ensure source media is backed up or content backup is enabled before deleting.

    Additional notes

    • Clipchamp and the browser will automatically clear some temp storage over time, but the steps above let this be done immediately when low on space.
    • After manual deletion, opening Clipchamp and projects again will recreate folders and new temp copies of media as needed for editing.
