Opening and reading PDF files in Microsoft Edge on Windows 11
Ask the sender to re-send the file.
(And, no offense to the sender, ask them to be sure they're sending the right file.)
PDF not opening from outlook file size is zero bytes

2026-04-20T07:59:15.1+00:00 try's to open in edge and says the above. i have tried pdf gear still the same. its on more than one computer so seems to be a issue with outlook/office 365.

DaveM121 872.9K Reputation points Independent Advisor2026-04-20T08:27:09.66+00:00 Downlaod the PDF to your PC, if the file size is indicated as 0 bytes, the file is corrupt, what is the source of that PDF file, if that PDF was sent to you, try asking the person to send on the PDF file to you again.

Open the Settings App.
G\o to Apps - Installed Apps.
Scroll down to find the Edge browser in the list, select it and choose Modify - Repair, then test if the PDF files open correctly.

If not, the best option may be to perform a full repair of your Office installation . . .
Open the Settings App.
Go to Apps, then scroll down to find Microsoft Office
Select that and choose Modify - Online Repair
That is a comprehensive fix
That should fix any issues with your Office Installation.

Thanks, i have tried option one still the same. it does the same issue on all four office computer and my laptop so i dont think they all need option 2?

If the PDF files that will not open are showing 0KB in size, then that is the most likely cause of the problem, those files contain no data, ask the sender to re-send the PDF file, then on your side, download the file to your PC and check the file size, if the size is not 0KB, the file should open correctly.

2026-04-21T07:18:15.14+00:00 no problem, i appreciate your help. The odd thing is they sometimes will open once then if i try to open it again it then says the screen shot at the top of this thread.
