Creating restricted channels within a team for confidential discussions or projects
Dear @GAIN Tech,
Thank you for the detailed description and for already performing thorough troubleshooting. To help further isolate and potentially resolve the issue, could you please confirm the following:
- Do other users (especially other members of the same private channel) see the same issue in their Teams desktop app or is the behavior only affecting your account?
- Does this issue also occur on other devices or when using a different user account?
Additionally, here are some steps I recommend you try again:
Step 1: Create a new section and test
Create a completely new custom section (with a different name) > Add the affected channel to this new section and check if it appears.
Step 2: Re-add the channel using drag & drop
Remove the channel from the current section > Drag and drop the channel directly into the section instead of using the “Show in” menu.
Step 3: Reinstall the Teams desktop application
Fully uninstall Microsoft Teams from your Mac > Restart the computer > Download and install the latest version again
If the issue still persists after all the steps above, I recommend reaching out to your IT administrator to create a support ticket with Microsoft Support in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center on your behalf. Since this is likely an issue related to UI or synchronization in the new Teams client, Microsoft Support will be able to investigate further using backend diagnostics and logs. For more information and instruction, please refer to Get support | Microsoft Docs
If you do not know who your IT admin is, please follow How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?
Note: Please understand that as a forum moderator, my role is to provide general guidance and troubleshooting support. I don’t have access to internal systems or backend tools, and I appreciate your understanding of these limits.
I hope the information shared helps point you in the right direction. Please try the steps above and let me know if they work. If not, we can continue working together to narrow this down.
The first response may not always resolve the issue right away, but with your help and more details, we can work toward a solution.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. I'm looking forward for your reply.
