In some Microsoft account or app setup flows, showing “apps working on it” or similar status can legitimately take a while before everything finishes.
If this is taking too much time, try these steps:
- Wait a few minutes and watch the notification area
- In many Microsoft portals and apps, background operations (like adding or configuring an app or service) can take 1–2 minutes or longer.
- Look for any in‑progress or error notifications in the UI. If there is an error, open the notification details to see what failed and follow the suggested steps.
- Check service health (for Microsoft 365 scenarios)
- If this is happening in the Microsoft 365 admin center (for example, “Setting up…” for Exchange, SharePoint, or other services), sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center and check Service health.
- If affected services are healthy and the “Setting up…” state has lasted more than 24 hours, contact Microsoft 365 Technical Support.
- If the app never appears or setup never completes
- If the application or service does not appear after waiting and there is an error notification, open the notification details and use that information when contacting support.
If the delay is in the Azure portal when adding an application:
- After clicking Add for an application, wait at least 1–2 minutes.
- Click the Notifications (bell) icon in the upper‑right corner of the Azure portal.
- Look for an Adding application notification:
- If it shows In progress, wait until it completes.
- If it shows Error, open it to see details and follow the guidance in the notification details article.
