Hello there,

As per this page: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cosmos-db/postgresql/migrate-postgresql-elastic-cluster

the Cosmos PG migration tool should have been available since 13th of April but I cannot see it in Azure portal (my screenshot vs the screenshots in the docs below).

Can you please guide me where I can find this tool?

Thanks,
Mohammad

    Hi **Mohammad Alinia,
    **
That is correct, document says that tool will be available starting from April 13th. Unfortunately, due to delays in depended on service deployments, we could not enable it.

It is about in final stages. Portal will start displaying the migration tab soon. Rough ETA is next week.

If it still doesn’t appear, open an Azure support ticket. Mention:

    • Subscription ID
    • Region
    • Cluster name
    • PostgreSQL version
    • That docs say available from April 13 but Migration tab missing

It is supposed to be available inside your Azure Cosmos DB for PostgreSQL cluster resource page in the Azure portal as a Migration tab/menu item on the left navigation pane. Microsoft documentation explicitly says the tool will be available through the Migration tab.
    Most likely reasons:

    • Phased rollout: Feature enabled subscription-by-subscription or region-by-region.
    • Unsupported cluster version: Microsoft noted migration support applies to clusters running PostgreSQL 16 with Citus 12.1.
    • Portal caching/UI lag: Old portal session may not show newly enabled features.
    • RBAC permissions: Limited permissions can hide management tabs. Open your Azure Cosmos DB for PostgreSQL cluster directly (not generic Cosmos DB account page).
      • In left menu, look for Migration under Settings / Management sections.
      • Verify your cluster version is PG16 + Citus 12.1.
      • Try Incognito / different browser / clear cache.
    • Switch portal directory/tenant if you use multiple tenants.
    • Check if your region has rollout completed.

    As per https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5865447/when-will-azure-cosmos-db-for-postgresql-migration

    • The feature is rolling out gradually across regions and subscriptions starting April 13, so you might not see it immediately in your portal instance.
