Randomly the following categories of emojis stopped working on microsoft teams desktop: Smilies, Hand Gestures, People, Animals. All other categories appear normally. I have updated and restarted several times over the last three weeks and the error remains. I cannot find any settings that I can adjust to make these reappear.

    Hi @Anon,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

For standard Microsoft Teams emojis (such as hand gestures, smiley faces, people, and animals), these are default system emojis and cannot be configured to be completely disabled or removed.

Therefore, if these emojis are not displayed, it may be considered unexpected or abnormal behavior in Microsoft Teams.

In this case, please try the following troubleshooting steps and check whether the issue still occurs.

Method 1: Sign out and sign back in to Microsoft Teams

    • Sign out of Teams
    • Then sign in again

Method 2: Clear the Microsoft Teams cache

Step 1: Completely close Microsoft Teams

Step 2: Press Windows + R, then paste the following path and press Enter:

    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams

Step 3: Delete all files in this folder

    Step 4: Restart Microsoft Teams

If the issue persists after completing the steps above, I recommend contacting Microsoft Technical Support. Their team has advanced tools to determine why emojis are not appearing in Microsoft Teams on your side.
