I removed a HDD from a windows 11 computer and reloaded the system into the main drive c: but have a problem with bitlocker.

To stop the hard drive from asking for a code every time you restart, you need to enable the "Auto-unlock" feature. This links the secondary drive's encryption to your main system drive, allowing it to unlock automatically as soon as you sign into Windows.

Enabling Auto-Unlock

You can do this through the Windows interface as long as your main system drive (usually C:) is also encrypted with BitLocker:

1. Unlock the drive one last time manually.
2. Open the Control Panel and go to System and Security > BitLocker Drive Encryption.
3. Find your HDD in the list of drives.
4. Click the link that says "Turn on auto-unlock".

Once this is active, Windows stores the "key" for the HDD in your system's registry. After you unlock your main computer at startup, the system will use that stored information to unlock the HDD in the background.

Troubleshooting

• Missing Auto-unlock option: If you don't see the "Turn on auto-unlock" option, ensure your main Windows drive (C:) is encrypted. BitLocker won't allow a secondary drive to auto-unlock unless the "key holder" (the system drive) is also secured.
• Using PowerShell: If the Control Panel is acting up, you can force it using an Administrator PowerShell window:
