Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

    1. What exactly happens when you try to set Google Chrome as default? (Any error message, or does it switch back to Microsoft Edge after restarting your device?)
    2. Are you seeing any message like “Some settings are managed by your organization” anywhere on the Settings page?

In Windows 10 (not in S mode), changing the default browser is done from Default Apps in Settings.

Follow these steps to switch from Microsoft Edge to Google Chrome:

    1. Open the Settings app.
    2. Select Apps > Default apps.
    3. Scroll to Web browser and click the current browser (likely Microsoft Edge).
    4. In the list that appears, select Google Chrome.

If Chrome does not appear in the list, ensure Chrome is installed correctly, then repeat the steps.

If instead you are actually in Windows 10 S mode, Microsoft Edge must remain the default browser and it is not possible to set Chrome as default unless switching out of S mode. In S mode, only Microsoft Edge can be the default browser.
