Additional meeting and call-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for business
To join a Teams meeting you were invited to, use one of these common methods.
1. Join using the meeting link in the invite
- Open the email or calendar invite for the meeting.
- Select the Join Microsoft Teams Meeting link (or the full meeting URL / Join meeting now link, depending on how the invite looks).
- A browser window opens:
- If the Teams app is installed, choose to open it there for the best experience.
- Or select Continue on this browser to join from the web.
- If prompted:
- Sign in with a Teams account to get full meeting features, or
- Enter a name to join as a guest (if the organizer allows it).
- Select Join now. You may wait in the lobby until the organizer admits you.
2. Join from the Teams calendar (if the meeting is on the calendar)
- Open the Teams app.
- Select Calendar on the left side (desktop) or the Calendar tab (mobile).
- Find the meeting in the list and select Join.
- Check your camera/microphone settings, then select Join now.
3. Join with Meeting ID and passcode (if provided)
If the link does not work but you have a Meeting ID and passcode:
From the Teams app (work/school or free):
- Open Teams and go to Calendar.
- Select Join with an ID (or Join with Meeting ID on mobile).
- Enter the Meeting ID and Meeting passcode from the invitation.
- Select Join a meeting, then Join / Join now.
From a browser (Teams Free scenario):
- Open a browser and go to the Microsoft Teams Meeting by ID page.
- Enter the Meeting ID and Meeting passcode from the invite.
- Select Join a meeting.
- Select Continue on this browser, then Join now.
If the organizer has enabled a lobby, admission to the meeting may require the organizer to let participants in.
