anyone find a driver that works with a new HP9120e printer on a Windows 7 system

I understand you are looking for a driver for the new HP 9120e printer on a Windows 7 system. 

Based on what is currently shown on HP’s official support and driver page for the HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e, HP does not appear to provide an official Windows 7 driver for this printer model. For this reason, I would recommend upgrading to a newer supported version of Windows, such as Windows 10 or Windows 11, so the printer can work with the drivers and software currently provided by the manufacturer. 

Please note that Windows 7 reached end of support on January 14, 2020, so compatibility with newer printer models and software may be limited. In addition, if you are considering using Windows 10, please note that it has already reached end of support on October 14, 2025, and a valid Windows license is still required for activation. For a Windows 10 license, I would suggest checking with an authorized retailer.

Windows 7 is not supported for the HP 9120e series, so no dedicated Windows 7 driver is provided. To try to use the printer anyway, only officially supported options from the context are:

1. Use built‑in or Windows Update drivers
   • On the Windows 7 PC, go to Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes and run Add Printer to see if Windows 7 offers a compatible in‑box driver.
   • If nothing suitable appears, run Windows Update from the Add Printer wizard or directly via Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Update > Check for updates to see if a WHQL‑signed HP driver is offered.
2. Search HP’s site for a compatible or basic driver
   • Check HP’s support site for any Windows 7–compatible basic or universal driver that lists support for the HP 9120e or a closely related model.
   • If a specific 9120e driver is not listed, look for an HP universal printer driver that supports the same printer language (for example, PCL or PostScript) and model family.
3. Manually choose a compatible driver by emulation If no exact driver exists, a compatible driver can sometimes be used:
   • In Add Printer, when prompted to select a driver, pick HP under Manufacturer.
   • Choose another HP model that uses the same printer emulation (for example, another HP LaserJet or DeskJet model that supports the same PCL or PostScript level).
   • Finish the wizard, then in Printers and Faxes, open the printer’s Properties and select Print Test Page.
   • If the test page prints correctly, that driver can be used. If the page is unreadable, repeat with a different HP model or emulation type.
4. If the device is an HP multifunction printer on a Windows 7 system upgraded from Vista
   • If HP Full Feature Software or HP Basic Driver was installed before upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 and the MFP functions (print/scan/HP Solution Center) do not work correctly, install the HP/Microsoft update described for HP multifunction printers on Windows 7:
     • Run Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Update > Check for updates and install the HP MFP fix update.
     • Alternatively, HP provides the same update at the HP link in the referenced article and it should be installed following HP’s instructions.

If none of these methods provide a working driver, Windows 7 cannot be made fully compatible with the HP 9120e using only the supported approaches in the provided documentation.
