Secure DNS in edge is grey out. run WIndows 11 25H2.

Hello,

I have the following issue in edge browser find that Secure DNS is grey out and cannot enable it to use it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hello,

    Thanks for all your help, the PC has crashed so I did a clean install of Windows 11 25H2 and after Windows 11 25H2 was in installed I open Edge and in settings checked the DNS toggle and I could turn this on, have not updated edge to the latest version but I will let you know the outcome when I do this.

    Got it. That confirms it is disabled by a policy. Since the method did not resolve the problem, we'll try to remove the Edge policies on machine level.

    • Close the Edge browser. Ensure it is not running in Task Manager by ending its processes
    • Right-click on the Start menu and choose Terminal (Admin)
    • Paste the following command one at a time and press Enter reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge" /f reg delete "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge" /f
    • Restart the computer and see if it helps

    Hi,

    Do you see a briefcase icon next to the toggle? If it is grayed out, it could be disabled by a policy. You can try to remove the policy by applying the Default User Choice from this page and see if it fixes the problem.
