Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

The app 'PC App Store' is adware and is completely malicious app. Have you tried uninstalling the app and all of its components by going into Settings > Apps > Installed Apps?

    • Locate the PC App Store and uninstall it.

If you are having trouble deleting the app,

    1. Open the Task Manager and end all processes that say “nwjs,” “pc app store,” and “watchdog store pc.”
    2. Go to File Explorer (show hidden files) and search for the file name - fa.2026.
    3. Make sure you include 'All the subfolders as well'.
    4. You will have to take ownership of the folder and delete it, including the file from Recycle Bin folder. Once done,
    5. In the search bar, type Pc app store > click on it and delete the shortcut.
    6. Restart the PC.

Then, open Microsoft Edge or Chrome, go to Settings > Reset your web browser.

See if resetting the browser switches your interface to the default one.

Alternatively, you can download and run Malwarebytes on your device to scan for malware and viruses, which automatically detect and delete all files related to this app.

Let me know if you still need more help.

Follow these steps to get Edge looking normal again and stop seeing “pc app store” effects.

    1. Uninstall the “pc app store” program
      1. Select Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
      2. Look for any app named “pc app store” or anything similar that appeared at the same time.
      3. Select it and choose Uninstall.
      4. If there are other unfamiliar apps installed at the same time, uninstall those as well (only if clearly not needed).
    2. Remove unwanted browser extensions/add‑ons
      1. Open Microsoft Edge.
      2. Select Settings and more (…) > Extensions.
      3. Remove any extension related to “pc app store” or anything you don’t recognize.
    3. Reset Edge to its default settings
      1. In Edge, go to Settings and more (…) > Settings.
      2. Select Reset settings.
      3. Click Restore settings to their default values and confirm.
      4. This resets the start page, new tab page, search engine, and pinned tabs, and disables all extensions (you can re‑enable trusted ones later).
    4. Protect the device from unwanted software
      1. Make sure Microsoft Defender Antivirus is turned on in Windows Security and run a Full scan.
      2. In the future, download apps only from trusted sources such as the Microsoft Store to avoid unwanted software that changes browser behavior.

If pop‑ups or redirects still appear after these steps, repeat the uninstall/extension checks and consider sorting apps by install date in Settings > Apps > Apps & features to remove any very recent, suspicious installs.
