On my Lenovo YOGA my brightness keys aren't working, and neither is the brightness bar on my settings. How do I fix this so I can turn my brightness down.

    Hi, good day!

It’s usually a driver or display issue rather than hardware.

    • When was the last time it worked properly?
    • Have you made any changes to your computer recently?

Here are some of the things you can try.

    1. Kindly try a quick restart first
    2. Try rolling back the graphics driver (Open Device Manager > Expand display adapters > right-click the graphics card driver > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver).
    3. Update or reinstall your display drivers Open Device Manager > Display adapters > Right-click your graphics card driver and choose Update driver. If that doesn’t help, try Uninstall device > make sure to tick "Attempt to remove the driver for this device" box and restart. Windows will reinstall a working version automatically.
    4. Open Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Restore default settings.

I look forward to your update and am happy to continue working with you until the issue is resolved. If you find the answer helpful, please click "Accept Answer" and consider upvoting it. Otherwise, please keep me posted by clicking "Add comment" below instead of selecting Yes or No.

Follow these steps in order, testing brightness after each step:

    1. Use the Windows brightness controls
      • Select the Network icon on the right side of the taskbar.
      • Move the Brightness slider to adjust the brightness.
      • If the slider is missing, go to Settings > System > Display and look for a Brightness or Change brightness for the built-in display slider.
    2. Check for automatic brightness settings
      • Go to Start > Settings > System > Display.
      • Under Brightness and color, if available, turn off options like Change brightness automatically when lighting changes or brightness automatically when lighting changes, then try the slider again.
    3. Make sure the system is using the built-in display
      • If an external monitor is connected, disconnect it and try the brightness keys and slider again.
      • On devices with only an external monitor, brightness must be changed using the monitor’s own buttons.
    4. Update the display driver
      • Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
      • Expand Display adapters.
      • Right-click the display adapter and select Update driver, then follow the instructions.
      • After updating, test the brightness keys and slider again.
    5. Install Lenovo system updates
      • Use Lenovo’s system update tool (Lenovo Vantage or similar) to install the latest system and display-related updates for the Yoga.
      • Restart and test brightness controls.

If brightness still cannot be changed after these steps, this can indicate a deeper driver or hardware issue and the device manufacturer’s support should be contacted.
