To renew a Microsoft Solution Architect certification that is expiring in a month, use the free online renewal assessment on Microsoft Learn, available only in the six‑month window before the certification’s expiration.

Steps to check and renew:

1. Sign in to the correct Microsoft Learn profile
   • Go to Microsoft Learn and sign in.
   • Ensure the correct account is used (work/school vs personal). If there are multiple profiles, try each, as missing credentials can be due to using the wrong profile.
2. Open the Certifications view
   • Select the photo avatar in the top-right corner.
   • Choose Profile from the dropdown.
   • In the profile menu, select Certifications.
3. Look for the Renew button
   • Scroll through the list of certifications.
   • Certifications that are eligible for renewal (within six months of expiry) will show a blue Renew button.
   • If the certification is eligible and active but no Renew button appears, verify again that the correct profile/account is being used.
4. Take the renewal assessment
   • Select the Renew button for the Solution Architect certification.
   • Complete the free online renewal assessment on Microsoft Learn before the expiration date.
   • If the assessment is not passed, it can be retaken immediately; after the second attempt, a 24‑hour wait is required between attempts. There is no limit on retakes as long as the certification has not yet expired.
   • Once the assessment is passed, the new expiration date is updated immediately on the Learn profile.

Important points:

• Renewal is only possible before the certification expires. Once expired, the certification cannot be renewed and must be re‑earned by passing the required exam(s) again.
• Role-based and specialty certifications are valid for one year from the date all requirements are completed; the renewal window opens six months before expiry.
• If the certification is not visible at all (and is not a legacy certification that has aged out), use Microsoft Credentials Support for missing credentials issues.
