How to change Microsoft password manager PIN?

If you forget your Microsoft Password Manager PIN, you can reset it from a device that already has passkey access.

Paste this link in the Edge address bar - edge://settings/autofill/passwords/settings

and click Enter.

In the Microsoft Password Manager Settings page, scroll down until you find 'Change PIN for Microsoft Password Manager' to reset it.

The PIN requested by Microsoft Password Manager in Microsoft Edge is the same device PIN (Windows Hello PIN) or password used to unlock the Windows profile, not a separate “password manager PIN.” It is only used to verify identity before showing saved passwords and cannot be viewed.

To manage the PIN used for this verification on Windows 11:

1. Open Settings on Windows.
2. Go to Accounts > Sign-in options.
3. Under PIN (Windows Hello):
   • To change it, select Change PIN and follow the instructions (the current PIN must be entered first).
   • If the PIN is forgotten, select I forgot my PIN and follow the verification steps to create a new one.

In Microsoft Edge, to see or edit saved passwords (and trigger this PIN prompt):

1. Open Microsoft Edge.
2. Select the three dots (…) in the top-right corner and choose Settings.
3. Select Passwords and autofill, then Microsoft Password Manager.
4. Next to a saved password, select the right arrow. Edge may ask for the Windows PIN or password.
5. To view the password, select the eye icon; to change it in Edge, select Edit, then Save after updating.

Important:

• There is no way to view the Windows Hello PIN itself; it can only be changed or reset.
• Changing the password in Microsoft Edge does not change the password on the actual website; the website password must be updated separately so they match.
