I'm glad to help you look into this. To help narrow things down, could you please let me know which operating system is installed on the older laptop and whether it has received the latest updates? Sometimes Teams can stop launching if the OS is a bit out of date.
Also, when you see the message saying “something went wrong,” does it show any error code or additional details? If you’re able to share a quick screenshot of that message, it would really help me identify the issue more accurately.
While we look into that, you can try clearing the Teams cache by following the steps in Clear the Teams client cache - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn as this often resolves launch-related issues. If the problem persists, uninstalling Teams and then reinstalling the latest version is also worth trying to ensure everything is set up cleanly.
