How to fix: Verify the Oracle ADF Desktop Integration add-in is properly installed and enabled, and check Excel macro settings/security permissions to ensure Oracle Fusion invoice spreadsheets load correctly.

I am currently unable to create an invoice from the spreadsheet in Oracle Fusion. The file opens with a security warning related to macros, and the spreadsheet appears blank even after unblocking it. This seems to be an integration issue between Oracle Fusion and Microsoft Office 365/Excel, preventing the invoice template from loading properly. Could you please investigate and advise on the required resolution?

    Based on your description, here are some steps you may want to try:

    Step 1: Reinstall Oracle ADF Desktop Integration (ADFDI) 

    • Open Windows Settings (Windows +I) and navigate to Apps & features. 
    • Locate Oracle ADF Desktop Integration Add‑In for Excel in the list of installed applications. 
    • Select the add‑in and click Uninstall. 
    • When prompted, confirm by clicking Uninstall to remove the add‑in completely. 
    • After the removal is complete, download and install the Oracle ADF Desktop Integration add‑in again.

    Step 2: Verify the ADFDI Add‑In Is Enabled in Excel 

    • Open Excel. 
    • Go to File > Options > Add‑ins. 
    • At the bottom, select COM Add‑ins and click Go.

    • Confirm that Oracle ADF Desktop Integration Add‑In for Excel is checked. 
    • You can also go to Disable Items > Go... and check whether this add-in is disabled and enable it again.

    • Click OK and restart Excel. 

    If the add‑in is disabled or missing, the spreadsheet will open but remain blank.   

    Step 3: Configure Excel Trust Center and Macro Settings 

    Although the file has been unblocked, could you please confirm whether the Excel Trust Center settings have been configured correctly? If not, please follow the steps below: 

    • In Excel, go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings and apply the settings:

      • Enable VBA macros 
      • Trust access to the VBA project object model

    • ActiveX Settings: Prompt before enabling all controls

    • Protected View: Uncheck all options: 
      • Files from the Internet 
      • Potentially unsafe locations 
      • Outlook attachments

    Please note that changes to Excel Trust Center settings should be applied temporarily for troubleshooting purposes only. Disabling these protections can increase security risk if left enabled long‑term. 

    After completing the Oracle Fusion invoice validation or testing: 

    • Re‑enable the original Trust Center and Protected View settings, or 
    • Use Trusted Locations for Oracle Fusion spreadsheets instead of disabling protections globally. 

    Only open spreadsheets downloaded directly from your trusted Oracle Fusion environment while these settings are adjusted. 

    Step 4: Add Oracle Fusion URL to Trusted Sites 

    • Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options in Windows. 
    • Go to the Security tab > Trusted Sites.

    • Add the URL where you download the file, for example: https://.oraclecloud.com or https://.oracle.com
    • Close all browser sessions and sign in again. 

    Blocked authentication or web calls can prevent the spreadsheet from loading content.   

    Step 5: Close Excel Before Downloading the Spreadsheet Again 

    • Ensure all Excel windows are closed before reattempting to “Create Invoice in Spreadsheet” 
    • ADF Desktop Integration initializes only when Excel starts. If Excel is already running, the file may not load correctly.
