I believe my email has been hacked at some point. Desktop part of my email has changed to Vietnamese language apart from the emails themselves they are all still in English. I have changed within the settings to English and uk time zone but still desktop is in Vietnamese.

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

To help narrow down the issue:

    1. Is it possible that your account has been hacked? Do you remember receiving any security alert before this happened?
    2. Do you currently have full access to your Outlook account (you can sign in normally and see your inbox and settings)?

You’ll need to update your language settings under the "Your Info" page:

Also, just to be safe, I’d recommend to sign out everywhere:

Let me know how it goes.

Follow these steps in order; the language is controlled in several different places and one of them is still set to Vietnamese.

    1. Change Outlook on the web / Outlook.com language
      1. Sign in to Outlook on the web / Outlook.com in a browser.
      2. Select Settings (gear icon).
      3. Select General > Language and time.
      4. In Language (Country/Region) choose English (United Kingdom).
      5. Select Save.
If using the classic Outlook Web App layout:
      1. Go to Settings > Options > Settings > Regional.
      2. Under Choose Language, pick English (United Kingdom).
      3. Optionally tick Rename the default folders so their names match the specified language.
      4. Save the changes.
    2. Check Microsoft account language (for personal Outlook.com)
      1. Go to the Microsoft account profile page.
      2. Change the display language to English.
    3. Check work or school account language (if this is an organizational mailbox)
      1. Sign in to the My Account portal with the work or school account.
      2. Select Settings & Privacy.
      3. Under Language & Region, set:
        • Display language: English (United Kingdom)
        • Regional format and Time zone as needed.
      4. Sign out and sign back in so the new display language is applied.
    4. Verify browser language is not forcing Vietnamese
      1. In Microsoft Edge, open Settings > Languages.
      2. Ensure English is at the top of the list and remove or move Vietnamese below English if present.
    5. Security checks if hacking is suspected
      1. Change the Microsoft account password to a strong, unique one.
      2. Turn on multi-factor authentication (for personal or work/school account, as applicable).
      3. In Outlook on the web, check Settings > Mail > Rules and Forwarding for any rules or forwarding addresses not created by the account owner and remove them.

After changing each language setting, refresh the browser or sign out and back in. If any part of the interface is still in Vietnamese, revisit the steps above to confirm that all language locations (Outlook web, account portal, and browser) are set to English.
