I just signed up and renewed by subscription. When will it activate? I can't use a doc I was in.

Normally you would open any Microsoft 365 app ... let's say Word 365 ... and go to File > Account to sign in to your Microsoft account. That activates the software. You need to sign in to the same Microsoft account that you used to pay for your subscription.

    Hello

Did you let it expire and then renew? If so, your ONeDrive can take up to 48 hours to kick in.

However, for your apps, it should work. Go to Files > Accounts > Update license, sign in again, see if that refreshes.

Activation is usually immediate after renewal, but there are a few things to check when documents can’t be edited or Office still shows subscription messages:

    1. Confirm the subscription is actually active:
      • Go to the Microsoft account Payment & billing page: https://account.microsoft.com/services/office/billing
      • Sign in with the same Microsoft account used to buy/renew.
      • Check that the subscription shows as Has recurring billing or an Expires on [date] in the future, not expired.
    2. If a physical card/box or emailed product key was used:
      • The subscription does not start until the product key is entered.
      • Follow the link in the email receipt or enter the key as described in Renew Microsoft 365 for home to complete activation.
    3. If Office apps still show “renew”, “expired”, or “subscription canceled” messages:
      • Close all Office apps.
      • Reopen Word or another app and sign in with the same Microsoft account that shows the active subscription.
      • If prompted, choose Buy or Reactivate and follow the steps to complete renewal online, or choose Enter Key if a new key was purchased.
    4. If notifications continue after renewal:
      • Verify the expiration date again using find out when your subscription expires.
      • If the date is wrong or activation still fails, contact Microsoft Support from the Contact support page.

While troubleshooting, documents can still be opened and edited using the free web versions at https://www.office.com/ if desktop apps are blocked.
