After a reboot for odd behavior, the "Sh+(WinKey)+v" worked as in the past.
New access for Copy screen segment on Win 11
Suddenly, the "Sh+(WinKey)+v" no longer works for 'Copy screen segment'. Instead that option appears in expanded copy options when I press "Prt SC" key.
My PC is HP OmniBook X Laptop 17-dd0xxx, purchased Dec 2025.
Windows 11 version is 25H22, with "2026-04 Preview Update (KB5083631) (26200.8328)" installed 1-May-2026.
I thought that maybe I had the heralded new Windows version, but not yet!

Key points based on current behavior in Windows 11:
- Print Screen now opens Snipping Tool by default
A recent Windows 11 update changes the default Print Screen (PrtSc) key behavior so that pressing it opens Snipping Tool instead of just copying the full screen to the clipboard. This matches what is being observed: pressing PrtSc now brings up the capture options (including “Copy screen segment”). - Win+Shift+S remains the primary shortcut for screen segment capture
The documented shortcut for capturing a portion of the screen ("Copy screen segment") is Windows logo key + Shift + S. This opens the Snipping Tool overlay where a rectangular, free-form, window, or full-screen snip can be selected.
If this combination no longer works, check for:- Keyboard issues (try another keyboard or confirm the Windows key and Shift key work in other shortcuts).
- Any third‑party software that might have overridden or blocked this shortcut.
- How to use Snipping Tool for screen segments
Even with the new Print Screen behavior, the supported ways to capture a screen segment are:- Press Windows logo key + Shift + S to open the Snipping Tool overlay and select the area.
- Or press PrtSc (if configured to open Snipping Tool), then choose the appropriate snip mode from the toolbar.
- Print Screen behavior can be changed in Settings
The update that changed Print Screen behavior also allows turning this off in Settings (so PrtSc goes back to just copying the full screen). If the new behavior is not desired, open Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard and adjust the Print Screen setting there.
In summary, the change being seen is consistent with the updated Windows 11 behavior where Print Screen opens Snipping Tool. The supported shortcut for “Copy screen segment” remains Win+Shift+S; if that specific key combo is not working, it is likely due to local configuration or a keyboard/shortcut conflict rather than the Windows version itself.
