I have my personal email as the primary account email as that is what I used during my free trial. I would like to change it to my business email. #email

    Hi @Jennifer Graham

Since you mentioned you used your personal email during a free trial and now want to switch to your business email, there are a couple of possible scenarios here. To help narrow things down, could you clarify the following?

    • When you mentioned using your personal email as the primary account for a trial, could you confirm which trial you’re referring to (for example, a Microsoft 365 Business trial or another service)?
    • When you say you want to change to your business email, are you trying to update the sign‑in account or switch to a separate business account?
    • Do you already have a separate Microsoft 365 business account set up by your organization with a license assigned?
    • Is your business email managed by your organization (e.g., ******@yourcompany.com), or is it a personal domain you own?

Hope to hear back from you soon.

The initial response may not fully address your needs, but it will help me better understand your situation. Once I get the information, I will try my best to find the next steps.

To change the primary email on a Microsoft account (including the one used for Microsoft 365 for business), update the account aliases and set the desired address as primary.

    1. Go to Manage how you sign in to your account at https://account.live.com/names/manage and sign in with the current primary email.
    2. Under Your info / Account aliases, select Add email.
    3. Add the business email address and complete the verification steps that are presented.
    4. After verification, in the same Manage how you sign in page, find the business email in the alias list and select Make primary next to it.
    5. (Optional) If the old personal email should no longer be associated with the account, select Remove next to that address.

    Notes:

    • Email addresses and phone numbers on the account are called aliases; any alias can be used to sign in and they share the same password.
    • If the current primary alias is removed, another alias must be set as primary first.
    • If removing an alias that is a Microsoft domain address (for example, @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com, @msn.com), that alias is permanently deleted and cannot be used on another Microsoft account.
