Hi,

I am being billed for an azure account that I no longer have access to because our company was acquired and my email with access was deleted. We need to cancel the account as we don't use it anymore. Who can I contact to help me cancel this account?

    Hello Lisa,

Thank you for posting question on Microsoft Windows Forum!

Based on your query of canceling azure subscription for the account no longer being accessed. Well! Since you no longer have access to the account due to your company email being deleted, the suggested path forward is to work directly with Microsoft Azure Billing Support. They can help verify ownership and assist with canceling or closing the subscription.

You can go to the official [Azure Support Options page] https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/support/ .Select “Create a support request”. Choose Billing & Subscription Management as the issue type. Fill in the details (subscription ID, billing problem, etc.).

Otherwise, you can call the Microsoft Global Customer Service line by visiting this link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/customer-service-phone-numbers-c0389ade-5640-e588-8b0e-28de8afeb3f2. Choose your region and corresponding support phone number.

The following articles are for further reference regarding your query.

Hope the above information is helpful! If it is. Free feel to hit "Accepted" for benefitting others in community having the same query too.

Because access to the original Azure account is lost, cancellation must be done either by someone who is a Subscription Owner on that subscription or with help from Microsoft Support.

    Use these steps:

    1. Identify the subscription owner in the acquiring company
      • Only a Subscription owner can cancel or delete an Azure subscription created via the Azure website, Enterprise Agreement, or Azure plan.
      • Ask the acquiring company’s IT/Cloud team to check who is listed as Subscription owner and have that person cancel the subscription.
      • Required role details are in the “Who can cancel a subscription?” section.
    2. If a Subscription owner can still sign in
      • In the Azure portal, go to Subscriptions and select the subscription.
      • Cancel the subscription.
      • After cancellation, the Delete subscription option becomes available after 3 days (customer-led) or 7 days (field/partner). The subscription is automatically deleted 90 days after cancellation.
    3. If no one can access the subscription
      • Since the original account/email was deleted, contact Microsoft Support so they can help remove the subscription.
      • Support can help remove a subscription once it is confirmed that it is no longer needed. Note that after support removes it, there are only seven days to reactivate it if needed.
    4. Ensure all resources are deleted
      • Before deletion, all resources in the subscription must be deleted, including any hidden resource types (shown by enabling Show hidden types under Manage view on the subscription’s Resources page).
    5. If this is the last Azure subscription on the account
      • After canceling the last subscription and meeting all required conditions, the subscription can be deleted. The account can then be effectively rendered inoperable (for example, by removing payment methods) if it is no longer used.
