    Hi,

Thank you for sharing your concern, and I understand how frustrating it can be when you’ve already renewed your subscription but still cannot use Excel features properly.

To help resolve this, please make sure you are signed in to the same Microsoft account that was used to purchase or renew the subscription. You can check your subscription status here: https://account.microsoft.com/services

Kindly confirm that your Microsoft 365 subscription is showing as active and not expired. If it is active, the issue is most likely related to a sync or activation delay.

To refresh the license, open any Office app such as Word or Excel, sign out of your account, then sign back in using the correct Microsoft account. This often helps re-establish the subscription connection.

You can also ensure your apps are fully updated by going to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.

If the subscription is active but Excel still shows limited features or prompts to renew, this may be a temporary sync issue. Signing out and signing back in usually resolves it quickly.

If the issue continues, reinstalling Office can help refresh the installation.

Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, locating Microsoft 365 or Office apps, right-clicking and selecting Uninstall, then restarting your computer.

After that, reinstall Office by going to https://account.microsoft.com/services, signing in with your licensed account, selecting Microsoft Office, and clicking Install. This will download the installer, which you can run and follow the on-screen steps.

I’ll be here for your update and ready to help until this is resolved. If you find the answer helpful, please feel free to rate the thread. Otherwise, leave a comment below if there's anything else I can help you with.

Follow these steps to restore full Excel functionality after renewal:

    1. Confirm the subscription is actually active
      • Close Excel and all other Office apps.
      • Go to the Microsoft account Subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services.
      • Sign in with the same Microsoft account used to buy/renew the subscription.
      • Under the Microsoft 365 heading, verify that the status is active and the expiration date is in the future.
    2. If a product key or card was used, make sure it was redeemed
      • If renewal was done using a physical box or card from a store, the subscription does not start until the product key is entered or the link in the email receipt is followed.
      • For help with using a product key to renew, see Renew Microsoft 365 for home in the referenced article.
    3. Force Excel to pick up the renewed license
      • Open Excel.
      • Go to File → Account.
      • Make sure the account shown is the same Microsoft account that has the active subscription.
      • Use the option to Update license or sign out and then sign back in with the correct account.
      • Close Excel and reopen it, then test copy/edit again.
    4. If still blocked, check for subscription notices in Excel
      • If a yellow bar appears (for example, asking to buy, renew, or re‑activate), follow the steps in the subscription-notice article to stop the notifications. These notices indicate Excel still thinks the subscription is expired or cancelled.
    5. If Excel is on iPad or mobile and stopped working right after renewal
      • Sometimes renewal timing can cause a glitch. Removing and reinstalling the Excel app has resolved this for other users.
    6. If the plan was changed to Microsoft 365 Basic
      • Microsoft 365 Basic does not include desktop apps like Excel. Desktop Excel will go into reduced functionality (no editing) when the previous plan ends.
      • If desktop Excel is needed, upgrade to Microsoft 365 Personal or Family, which include full desktop apps.
    7. If none of the above works
      • Verify again that the expiration date online is correct.
      • If the date or status looks wrong, or Excel still shows “subscription canceled” or similar after the above steps, contact Microsoft Support from the subscription/expiration page so they can correct the account status.
