The most direct way to resolve an incorrect Xbox Game Pass charge is to investigate the charge, then contact Microsoft billing support and/or request a refund/adjustment through the official tools.
- Investigate the charge
- Go to the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard and select Investigate next to the charge: Manage your payments.
- This helps confirm what the charge is for and whether it is a subscription with recurring billing, a different plan, or a regional price.
- More details on this process: How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft.
- Check refund/price correction options
- For Microsoft Store/Xbox digital purchases (including Game Pass), use the refund flow described in Get a refund for apps and games purchased from Microsoft Store.
- Sign in, locate the recent Game Pass charge, and submit a request explaining that the amount charged does not match the advertised price. Even if a full refund is not wanted, this is the official channel for billing corrections.
- Contact Microsoft Store/Xbox billing support
- If phone support is not working, use web support options (chat/call-back) via Microsoft Store Support as referenced in the docs. Have ready:
- Microsoft account email
- Date and amount of the charge
- Description: Game Pass was advertised at 22.99 but 30 was charged.
- For repeated or clearly incorrect charges, support can review and, where appropriate, credit or adjust the billing.
- If phone support is not working, use web support options (chat/call-back) via Microsoft Store Support as referenced in the docs. Have ready:
- If the charge is unauthorized or seems fraudulent
- If the charge is not recognized or seems like fraud, follow How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft and, if needed, contact the bank or card issuer to dispute the payment (chargeback). Note that repeated misuse of chargebacks can be considered fraud, so this should be used only when the payment truly was not authorized.
Legal action or “suing” is outside the scope of Microsoft’s technical/billing support guidance. The documented and fastest path to resolve overcharges is to investigate the charge via the Microsoft account dashboard, then work with Microsoft Store/Xbox billing support and, if necessary, the payment provider.
