I can't seem to get in contact with my Microsoft - but I changed my email address and to preserve the previous email address I tried adding it as a secondary, come to find out when I tried adding it they don't support hotmail emails as aliases - therefore now I can't re login into my previous login and nor can I create another account in the name.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

According to the Microsoft account article here, if you remove an alias that's an email address from a Microsoft domain (like @hotmail.com, @live.com, @outlook.com, or @msn.com), you're permanently deleting the alias, and it can't be associated with any Microsoft account again.

So, if you have removed a @hotmail.com address, that address has been permanently deleted. Because Microsoft no longer recycles email addresses, you also won’t be able to create a new account using that same email address.

    Reference:

Remove an email alias in your Microsoft Account
